Reconnecting with Single Card Tarot Interpretation: The Personality Card

Recently, I’ve been blessed with some free time to do reflection on myself and how I can be of service with Lux Rose Healing. This journey started with an interest in using Tarot as a divination tool when I was feeling lost, had many questions and therapy as it is segmented in sessions. If you know me, I’m an advocate for mental health. I think if more awareness was brought to mental health as dental health, we might all be in a better place because of the work it inspires an individual to do. I’ve digressed, back to my journey with Tarot. In search of a deck that spoke to me, I found a Tarot kit for $5 at Barnes and Nobles. I was excited to work with this deck, but something felt off about the readings. It was a great beginners tool but somehow was missing the mark of the message. Thankfully, my best friend was familiar with many magical places. I went to a New Age bookstore in New York City in search of a deck that spoke to me. I found the Tarot of the Sweet Twilight deck. It was whimsical, with Tim Burton-esque vibes and in my hands ready to be mine after I made my purchase.

The next step was using the reference with the Tarot kit, it didn’t satisfy my appetite for knowledge and understanding of symbolism or mysteries. I bought a copy of The Ultimate Guide to the Rider Waite Tarot by Johannes Fiebig and Evelin Bürger and that was the start of the esoteric library I treasure. Each visit to the New Age shop led me to another opportunity for growth in my spirituality. To name a few, my path in practicing Usui Reiki and a novice in astrology, as well as personal manifestation magic with oils and candles. My favorite candles are created by @themaverickmage (not to mention I think I have about 5 or 6 of her oracle decks in my collection).

Each year since 2019, my fixed big three have influenced me to focus on a different aspect of learning tarot/oracle readings as a way to have more integrity and authenticity when doing an intuitive reading for myself and others. This is the main reason I’ve kept all my service offerings donation based (next year, I will introduce prices but instead to make all the modalities accessible by offering sliding scale donation days set aside – a plan is in the works).

All this to say that after a few years, I’ve picked up my Ultimate Guide to the Rider Waite Tarot again to re-read the section “10 favorite ways of using a SINGLE care” and calculated my Personality Card from bullet #7. This works with the Major arcana, numbers 1 to 22. So you take your birthday, ie. 12/3/1945 and work out the sum of the digits 1+2+3+1+9+4+5=25. 

1-21, match with the Major arcana associated, no further steps. 

22, match with the Major arcana 0 – The Fool. 

Greater than 22, 23 and above, take the digits and sum them up again. 

For example, since this number is greater than 25, you would take those digits and sum them up again, 2+5=7. Then you would match that with the Major arcana that is the equivalent, in this example, VII The Chariot.

Since today is Tuesday (aka Mars day), I thought it was appropriate to share my result. After following the steps above, the result of my sum was 4, the equivalent card is IV – The Emperor. The energy of this card is Fire and Aries. Going a little further Aries is ruled by Mars, which used to be the traditional ruler of Scorpio as well. This personality card definitely resonates with me because I do feel a sense of determination, drive and for lack of a better way to say it, Zaddy energy or BDE. As the book states, “Emperor and King Zeus, Jupiter and countless other father-figures can be associated with this image.” I love how spirituality always seems to come full circle.
